Hackathon
EDF Hackathon - Copenhagen, June 2012
- Scope: 30 to 50 participants
- Focus: "Integrating Linked Open Data into Business Content Management"
- Audience: Senior Developers, Software Architects looking for ways in which to make use of web-based data resources and linking them into their customer business solutions.
Take home items for people who are not afraid of open source code:
One or more software components that leverage Linked Data for your organisation, either:
- leveraging LD-capabilities for technology providers or
- leveraging LD-enabled platforms for end user organisations
Talk to the developers of:
-
IKS - Interactive Knowledge Stack: Apache Stanbol
Supporting semantic search
IKS target audience are CMS providers seeking integration of semantic technology components into their software stack.- Start at: http://incubator.apache.org/stanbol/
- Demos at: http://dev.iks-project.eu:8081/
- Conceptual overview at: http://incubator.apache.org/stanbol/docs/trunk/components.html
- Stanbol is brought to you by: http://www.iks-project.eu/
-
LATC - Linked Open Data Around-The-Clock:
LATC helps people and institutions to publish and consume Linked (Open) Data. We offer a 24/7 Interlinking Platform as SaaS, we have seeded the EU data cloud that can be used to build applications and we maintain a Publishing and Consumption tools library incl. walk-through examples on how to use the tools.
-
LMF - Linked Media Framework:
Connecting Multimedia with Linked Data, developed from KiWi project and Salzburg NewMediaLab
The LMF is a generic, scalable and reliable software framework for publishing and using Linked Data and for integrating multimedia content and data from different sources using Linked Data technologies. It provides a number of components, including rule-based reasoning, semantic search, text classification, simple Linked Data querying, and versioning that simplify common tasks for developers. It is currently e.g. used to implement multimedia search for Red Bull and news search for Salzburger Nachrichten (1.2 million articles). - Start at: http://code.google.com/p/kiwi/
- Demos at: http://labs.newmedialab.at
-
LOD2 - Creating knowledge out of Interlinked Data:
LOD2 develops the integrated LOD2 Stack, which facilitates the whole life-cycle of Linked Data on the Web and thus helps companies and organizations to publish and use Linked Data.
-
PlanetData:
Integrating geospatial data using on-demand querying and linked services
PlanetData aims to establish an interdisciplinary, sustainable European community of researchers, helping organizations to expose their data on the Web in a useful way.- Visualisation via Spark
- Datasets based on the NeoGeo Vocabulary: http://gadm.geovocab.org/, http://nuts.geovocab.org/
- map4rdf, a tool for visualizing RDF resources with geometrical information
- geometry2rdf, a library for generating RDF files for geometrical information
- morph, and R2RML implementation for transforming relational databases to RDF
- olap4ld: we show how to transform statistical data into RDF and how to consume it using Online Analytical Processing (OLAP)
It's going to be a HACKATHON, so we will show senior developers from SMEs how to make use of the software, and what they need to integrate Linked Open Data offerings into their systems. So do bring your system to the party!
